the TRIP IS HAPPENING!

We are watching all U.S. State Department and global travel advisories and feel the celebration can continue safely.
The violence that took place in Mexico on February 22nd happened in Jalisco, a 1 day and 6 hour drive away from Cancun. It has spurred major unrest on the West coast of Mexico and a few, very isolated incidents of vandalism in the outskirts of Quintana Roo. This has caused the United States Department of State to elevate the travel advisory for Quintana Roo, where Cancun is located, to Level 2 "Exercise Increased Caution". This means travelers are advised not travel between cities at night, go out alone, and should only use verified travel services for vehicles, etc. (don't wave down a cab from the street).

What does that mean for us? Basically - nothing. All of our travel has been arranged through verified travel services thanks to Geoffrey and Bailey. Our only time off of resort property will be in verified airport transfers, and then as a group of 15+ in a verified shuttle, on a verified catamaran, and back on a verified shuttle so we can enjoy a morning snorkeling. The rest of the time, not only will be on resort property, we will be on resort property owned by a massive, international hotel brand (Hyatt).

Remember, the media is LOUD. Always check your sources and your geography. Worrying about what happened in Mexico yesterday impacting our trip is like worrying about the National Guard in LA last summer having an impact on something happening in Houston, TX. If that wasn't causing you to lose sleep, this shouldn't either. Keep packing your bags, searching for your passports, and scouring the internet for the *perfect* 80's shirt (that ships in 24 hours and will arrive before you have to leave for the airport).
